Choir & Vocal Groups
Haven’t you waited long enough? You’re just a phone call away from being a part of our exciting Worship & Arts Ministry! Be a part of leading corporate worship every Sunday, make new friends, sing great music and join in on special events held throughout the year.
That just begins to describe the experience you’ll have in one of our choirs and vocal groups. There are many opportunities to be a part of this exciting ministry that has such a dynamic impact each week on so those who come to worship here at Locust Grove.
At Locust Grove, we are blessed with a large number of members and guests who share a passion for music, the talent to play an instrument, and a desire to worship God.
Whether blended into an 18-piece orchestra, candle-lit in a small ensemble, or spotlit on a darkened stage with a single guitar, these special individuals add power, reflection and intimacy to our corporate and small group worship.
At Locust Grove, worship is one of our top ministry priorities. Our Media Ministry is key in providing our members and guests with a rich, meaningful worship experience.
Ironically, the goal of the staff and volunteers within the Media Ministry is to make their time and efforts as invisible to worshipers as possible. We are grateful for their selfless commitment and hard work.
Choir & Vocal Groups
The Worship Choir and Orchestra are first and foremost designed to be worshiping communities who lead primarily in our 10:30 worship service along with excellent seasonal presentations geared for outreach. Weekly choir rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and you are welcome to join us at any time.
Praise Teams & Ensembles
We have small adult vocal groups that comprise praise teams who lead in our vibrant worship services. Other ensembles include an Adult Vocal Ensemble and a Men’s Quartet.
Worship Teams and multiple vocal ensembles for adults, students, and children are available by audition within the various choir teams.
Children’s Choirs (K-5th Grade)
Our children’s choirs are staffed by talented creative leaders who are committed to sharing God’s love with every child as we model for them the praise and worship of God through His gift of music. Your child will learn basics of music including movement, instruments, singing skills, scripture, bible stories and music fundamentals. Currently, we provide a seasonal choir program for children that revolves around special Christmas and Easter presentations. Our children’s choir rehearsals are at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evenings leading up to Easter and Christmas performances.
Locust Grove Orchestra
If you have experience playing an instrument and a desire to use your talent for God, the Locust Grove Orchestra has a place for you. These instrumentalists join together in forming what has become a vibrant part of the worship experience at LGBC. Our Orchestra is much more than any community or civic center orchestra; we have been called to the high purpose of leading our congregation in praise and worship of the Almighty God!
Rehearsals for the Locust Grove Orchestra are weekly on Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. The group is open to adults and advanced high school students.
Locust Grove Bands
These vital and exciting instrumental groups provide a strong core for our celebrative and heart-felt worship.
The Praise Band plays most every Sunday morning in worship. This is an audition-only group. Rehearsals are at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Our Handbell Ministry includes a three-octave set of Schulmerich handbells. This group rehearses and plays seasonally, and for special events. Please contact us if you have an interest in playing.
*Openings are filled by interview with the respective director.
The Tech Team provides setup, support and operation of all audio visual and lighting equipment for worship services, church wide productions and ministry area events. It is an area of service that is exciting and rewarding.
Sound techs are responsible for setup and teardown of mics and other sound equipment and for insuring that mics are turned on and off at appropriate times and at the correct sound level throughout a service or event.
Lighting techs work at the light console following a script of the service to rise and lower the light levels for different areas at different times. No prior experience is required; we will provide the training needed.
ProPresenter slides are used every Sunday to show the lyrics to songs and sermon notes in the 8:00 & 10:30 services. Prior knowledge of ProPresenter is helpful, but we train on the use of the software.
Creative artists use various mediums such as painting, sketch art, prop and set design, graphic design, and the like to communicate God’s love and grace. If you possess these talents, we want you to use them for His glory and in our worship experiences. You can contact the Worship Pastor to find out how to make that happen.
