In this second day of reading from Psalm 107, take a moment to reflect on God’s steadfast love.
Today’s reading from Daniel references the desolation of the temple in Jerusalem by the Syrian-Greek king Antiochus IV Epiphanes during his persecution of the Jews that led to the Maccabean Revolt. In apocalyptic language, the readers are assured that the evil that leads to such sacrilege will not last. God will intervene to rescue His people and restore proper worship. The reading from Ephesians is a proclamation that the decisive restoration is in Christ, in whom God will ultimately gather up all things. The Holy Spirit is the mark that we have heard in truth the Good News of God’s rescue and our redemption.
