Thoughts From Our Members
In this third day of reading from Psalm 107, take a moment to reflect on God’s loyalty.
The reading from Numbers describes the death of the High Priest Aaron. The assumption of the priestly function by Aaron’s son Eleazar is both an assurance of God’s continued provision, but also points to the need for the eternal High Priesthood of Christ.
The reading from the Fourth Gospel is the famous nighttime visit to Jesus by the Pharisee Nicodemus. In their conversation, Nicodemus misunderstands Jesus’ statement regarding a new birth. In his literal interpretation of Jesus’ words, Nicodemus fails to comprehend the spiritual meaning being shared with him. Jesus’ dismay at Nicodemus’ lack of understanding and his pointing to the Spirit highlights both our human limitations and our blessed hope for a Christ-shaped mind and heart.
