Who are the Grove Girls?
Years ago our women’s ministry team decided we needed a name for our group. After much discussion we decided on “Grove Girls” because whether we are 25 or 85, we’re all girls at heart who need a father’s love and a community of girls, a community of other women who are our biggest fans, our biggest cheerleaders. That’s where the name “Grove Girls” came from. Our ages really do range from about 25 to 85, and all are welcome!
We do two-three 6-8 week Bible studies together every year, usually meeting on Wednesday nights so that our younger moms have access to childcare. We have a Facebook group for general announcements, encouragement, and sometimes calls to pray for or help one another. Many of our girls take an annual road trip every Spring to the Women of Joy Conference in Pigeon Forge, TN. We try to schedule several get-togethers each year, such as doing a fun craft, Creative Faith Journaling and always enjoying some good food!
Finally, the Grove Girls enjoy serving others together. We serve on the Grove Cafe Wednesday night meal team, Locust Grove Celebration Team, co-teaching Children’s Church, mission trips to Guatemala, and our own Locust Grove Food Pantry, to name a few. For more information, contact our church office at 256-379-2813. We are always on the lookout for another “girl” to welcome into our community!
The Grove Girls are gearing up for a new Bible Study and are excited to share it with you.

Study Focus: Foster a Heart of Gratitude
The Bible shows us that becoming a grateful person begins with acknowledging how the One who owes us nothing has given us everything. This 4-session study will help you develop a thankful heart that can be cultivated into a continual harvest of gratitude, regardless of the circumstances.
Each week you’ll look at a profile of someone in the Bible with a grateful heart, find teaching from Scripture on gratefulness, focus on a psalm of thanksgiving, and be encouraged to practice gratitude. When you’re able to see the biblical basis of living with a grateful heart, you will be more motivated to thank God in all things.
The phrase “give God thanks in all things” comes from the Bible, particularly 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which states, “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. This is an instruction to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, acknowledging God’s goodness in every circumstance, whether good or bad. It does not necessarily mean to be thankful for every negative event, but rather to give thanks in all situations, trusting in God’s larger plan, grace, and support.
It can lead to benefits: Cultivating gratitude has been linked to positive emotions, happiness, and better ways of dealing with adversity.
It’s a spiritual discipline: The verse encourages a consistent practice of gratitude as a core part of a life centered on faith.
It’s God’s will: Being thankful is presented as what God wants for you in Christ Jesus, as you are connected to Him through this faith.
It’s about recognizing God’s presence: Giving thanks in all circumstances is a way to acknowledge God’s sovereignty and presence, even when circumstances are difficult.
It’s done through faith: This practice is something believers can do in the power of Christ.
